A special Wizz Air flight landed in Chișinău today, bringing 135 Italian tourists – journalists, bloggers, and travelers – who won a free three-day trip to a secret destination. They found out only upon arrival that they would discover the Moldova.
According to the director of the Investments Agency, Natalia Bejan, the guests will experience a comprehensive programme promoting Moldovan tourism, which includes wine tastings, hiking trails, pie-cooking masterclasses, the VinOpera show at Castle Mimi and visits to Orheiul Vechi (Old Orhei). “I hope we succeed in capturing their hearts,” said Bejan.
The event is part of an international tourism promotion campaign organized by Wizz Air and the Investments Agency, in partnership with the National Tourism Office and with the support of the Culture Ministry.
Moldova is boosting its efforts to promote itself as an emerging tourist destination in Europe. Partners of the campaign include the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund (UMAEF), Mastercard, Chisinau International Airport Eugen Doga, Rădăcini Wines, the National Office for Vine and Wine (ONVV), National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association of Moldova and the Museum of Ethnography and Natural History.
