Moldova's deputy PM, China's new Ambassador to Moldova discuss growth opportunities for Moldovan exports to Chinese market

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi today had a meeting with new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Moldova Dong Zhihua. The two officials highlighted opportunities to increase Moldovan exports to the Chinese market, especially wines and agri-food products, as well as the interest in attracting investments and stepping up cooperation in such areas as energy efficiency, agriculture, infrastructure and education.

The discussions focused on the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for deepening cooperation, with an emphasis on political and diplomatic dialogue, including preparations for the next round of inter-ministerial political consultations, as well as on the development of economic and sectoral cooperation.

The Moldovan diplomacy head reaffirmed the openness of Moldova’s authorities to continue the dialogue and deepen the relations of friendship and cooperation with the People’s Republic of China.

“I had a productive meeting with new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Moldova Dong Zhihua. I welcomed her to Chisinau and wished her every success in carrying out her mandate. We aim to develop relations with the People’s Republic of China through an open, results-oriented dialogue and by harnessing the cooperation potential for the benefit of the citizens of both states,” stated Mihai Popsoi.

On 30 January 2026, the sides will mark the 34th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and the People’s Republic of China.
