Moldovan deputy PM, counterpart from United Kingdom discuss development of economic cooperation
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi has had a phone conversation with Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Yvette Cooper. The discussions focused on strengthening the Moldovan‑British cooperation in strategic areas within the Defense and Security Partnership, as well as on developing economic cooperation through initiatives aimed at bringing the business communities closer together.
Minister Mihai Popsoi thanked the United Kingdom for its close cooperation and its role as a trusted partner of Moldova, including in supporting national priorities in the development of the economic sector, as well as efforts to ensure regional security.
“We also addressed cooperation within the Council of Europe, in the context of Moldova holding the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers. On this occasion, I invited Yvette Cooper to participate in the Committee of Ministers’ session, that will take place in Chisinau in May 2026. We agreed to continue the dialogue and cooperation in areas of common interest,” said Mihai Popsoi.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and the United Kingdom were established on 17 January 1992. To date, 15 cooperation agreements have been signed between the two states.
