Moldovan deputy PM meets foreign affairs minister of Poland
Chisinau, 17 June /MOLDPRES/ - Poland will support the speeding up of the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today made statements to this effect following a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of Poland Radoslaw Sikorski in Warsaw.
Deputy PM Mihai Popsoi stressed that Radoslaw Sikorski had urged Moldova to continue implementing the reforms and align with the European standards, as the country’s place is in the European Union.
„I thanked the Polish counterpart for the support provided to Moldova and we agreed on continuing to deepen the bilateral relations, as Moldova advances on the European integration path. We also discussed the priorities of the Polish presidency at the EU Council and at the Visegrad Group. I expressed appreciation for the recent declaration adopted at the meeting of foreign affairs ministers from Weimar, which includes a message of support for our country,’’ Mihai Popsoi noted.
Also, the officials analyzed opportunities of improving the economic cooperation.
„At present, we have investments with Polish capital in such important sectors as: IT, constructions and agriculture. We want more Polish companies to invest in Moldova,’’ the deputy PM stressed.
Also, the two officials exchanged opinions on the importance of the inter-parliamentary cooperation and in the defence field, the regional security, hybrid threats, etc.
On 17-20 June this year, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi pays three working visits to Warsaw, Poland, Bratislava, Slovakia, and Vienna, Austria.
It is worth mentioning that Poland will take over the Presidency of the EU Council on 1 January 2025.
