Moldovan electoral authority approves electoral symbols of parties for 29 May polls

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC), at a today’s meeting, approved the electoral symbols of the political parties and an electoral bloc, registered as electoral contenders,  for being printed on ballot papers for the new local polls due on 29 May 2022.  

According to CEC, 8 political parties and one electoral bloc were recorded for the 29 May ballot.

Also today, CEC took note of the reports on the financing of the electoral campaign for the new local elections due on 29 Mai 2022. The reports were compiled for the period 30 April – 6 May this year and were submitted by the following electoral contenders: Shor Political Party and the Political Party Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), as well as data with zero values, covered in the report of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM).   

At the same time, the electoral competitors Liberal Party, Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists, Our Party Political Party and the People’s Power Political Party informed CEC that they had not opened a bank account with the mention, Electoral Fund, and had not carried out electoral campaign activities, which imply financial spending.    

In the context, CEC took note of an approach by the Shor Political Party on the non-opening of the bank account with the mention, Electoral Fund, and notified the parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finances and the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), in order to settle the situations of blockage, dealing with banks’ refusal to open bank accounts, Electoral Fund.     

On 29 May 2022, new local elections with be held in the following settlements: Ghetlova commune, central Orhei district; Horodiste commune, northern Rezina district; Zastanca village, northern Soroca district; Moara de Piatra village, northern Drochia district; Tataresti village, central Straseni district; Glinjeni village, western Falesti district; Zaicani village, north-western Rascani district and Hagimus village, south-eastern Causeni district; Lozova commune, Straseni district and Bobeica commune, central Hancesti district.
