Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry says no Moldovan citizens among victims of explosion in the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana
The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs that, according to the data provided by the Embassy of Moldova in the Swiss Confederation, there is currently no indication that citizens of Moldova are among the victims or injured in the explosion that occurred in the Crans-Montana resort
The MAE specifies that it continues to monitor the situation, in close cooperation with the Swiss competent authorities. The identification procedures of the affected individuals are ongoing, and so far, no requests for consular assistance have been received on behalf Moldovan citizens.
The ministry recommends that citizens in Switzerland follow the instructions of local authorities and contact the Embassy of Moldova for any emergency situation.
In the early hours of the New Year, a powerful fire broke out in the Le Constellation bar, one of the most popular venues in the ski resort of Crans-Montana, causing dozens of victims and hundreds of injured. The Commander of the Cantonal Police in Valais, Frederic Gisler, at a today’s news conference confirmed that "dozens of people have died," and approximately a hundred people were injured, most severely, and were transported to hospitals in Sion, Lausanne, Geneva and Zurich.
