VIDEO // Parliament speaker says Moldova's entry into Roam like at Home zone important achievement for people
Moldova as of January 1 is part of the Roam like at Home zone, which means that Moldovan citizens traveling in European Union countries can make calls, send messages and use mobile internet without additional costs, at rates similar to those in their home country. The facility also applies to European citizens visiting Moldova.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has made statements to this effect, who emphasized the importance of this step for citizens and for bringing Moldova closer to the European space. According to him, the country’s inclusion in the Roam like at Home zone was a concrete, long-awaited achievement that brings direct benefits to people, especially those who travel, work or maintain family ties abroad.
"It's very good news and long-awaited by everyone," Igor Grosu said, noting that the elimination of additional roaming charges simplifies communication and reduces expenses for citizens.
The measure comes into effect on the very first day of the new year and marks a new step in the European integration process of Moldova, facilitating mobility and connecting people from both banks of the Prut River and throughout the European Union.
