Moldovan electoral body finds out high level of infringements in elections: 191 incidents
Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) finds out an increased number of infringements at the today presidential elections. Thus, according to the General Police Inspectorate, 191 cases of infringements or incidents were registered till 19:00.
Most cases regard the photographing of ballot papers – 61 cases, with 27 official reports compiled. Twenty nine cases deal with the banned electoral agitation (one report compiled); 25 situations of reasonable suspicion of voters’ corrupting; 20 cases of organized carriage of voters; 7 cases of unauthorized electoral posting; 6 cases of ballot paper’s deterioration (2 official reports compiled); 7 cases of infringement of the right to vote; 1 case when also other people were in the voting booth; another over 30 cases regarding other infringements of the electoral process.
So far, two notifications have been submitted: one concerns the electoral agitation on social networks; another one regards voters’ organized transportation.
The overall number of calls received by the Commission’s Call Centre exceeds the figure of 800. About 60 per cent of them came mostly on behalf of citizens and regarded: the voting procedure, addresses of polling stations, time of voting, the acts based on which they can vote, etc.
The electors can exercise the right to vote till 21:00. The electoral bureau can decide on the prolongation, by 2 hours at the most, of the voting period, in order to allow voters staying in queue at the concerning polling station to exercise the right to vote.
