Extended paternal leave for fathers with twins or adopted children
Today Parliament voted legislative amendments aimed at supporting families with multiple children by extending the right to paternity leave and allowance for fathers with twins, triplets, or in the case of simultaneous adoption of multiple children.
The draft law provides for 15 calendar days of paternity leave for each child in cases of multiple births or the adoption of two or more children through a single procedure.
Thus, if a family has twins, the father will benefit from 30 days of paternity leave, compared to the 14 days previously stipulated.
In addition to the leave, fathers will also be entitled to a separate paternal allowance for each child.
The initiative belongs to a group of deputies from Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) faction and aims to align national legislation with international standards.
