Moldovan parliament's delegation participates in spring session of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe in Strasbourg

A delegation of the Moldova’s parliament is participating in the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), held in Strasbourg on April 20-24.

According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, the delegation includes Deputy Parliament Speaker Doina Gherman, the head of the national delegation to PACE, Ion Groza, as well as MPs Veronica Rosca, Andrian Cheptonar, Natalia Davidovici, Renato Usatii and Igor Dodon.

During the session, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi will deliver a communication on behalf of the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and will answer questions put by lawmakers.

The meeting’s agenda includes such topics as compliance with international law, security in the Middle East and efforts to establish a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. Issues related to combating hate speech against politicians, protecting freedom of religion and abolishing the death penalty will also be examined.

The parliamentarians will also discuss the implementation of the Istanbul Convention and the promotion of a culture of consent, as well as strengthening mechanisms to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The session will conclude with the awarding of the Council of Europe Museum Prize for 2026.

Moldova holds the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from during November 14, 2025 – May 15, 2026 and has been a member state of the organization since 1995.
