Moldovan athletes win 11 medals at European Shotokan Karate Championship in Hungary
Moldovan athletes won 11 medals at the European Shotokan Karate Championship for seniors, held in Hungary.
According to the National Olympic and Sports Committee, team leader Vitalii Spînu won a gold medal in the 80 kg weight category and a silver medal in the Shobu Ippon event. Another two medals were claimed by Marius Nistor, who stepped onto the podium with silver and bronze.
Additionally, Anastasia Spînu and Daniel Mutelica each won two bronze medals. Joining them on the third step of the podium were Mihail Volontir, Maxim Guțu, and Corina Copacinschi.
In the Under-21 category, Maxim Guțu became European champion in the +78 kg category.
The European Shotokan Karate Championship for seniors took place from April 16–19 in Eger, Hungary.
