A parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Moldova, including Radu Marian, Adrian Băluțel and Andrian Cheptonar is paying an official visit to Washington to promote investment opportunities and new economic incentives offered to investors from the United States.
Together with Ambassador Vlad Kulminski, the Moldovan officials discussed with Republican and Democratic senators and congressmen about strengthening the bilateral partnership and deepening the parliamentary dialogue. They pointed out that U.S. support is essential to countering the pressure exerted by the Russian Federation.
In economic terms, the delegation presented the legislative initiative recently adopted in Chișinău to eliminate tariffs on most imports from the U.S., a measure that would facilitate Moldovan companies’ access to American technologies. According to the discussions, the U.S. side welcomed this openness, given the favorable tariff regime already in force for the Republic of Moldova.
Another important topic concerned the energy sector. The MPs expressed their gratitude for the 130-million-dollar investment allocated to the construction of the Strășeni–Gutinaș power line, a project to be implemented by an American company.
Moldovan officials highlighted the Republic of Moldova’s potential. The delegation also participated in Chatham House-style discussions with representatives of the academic community in Washington and the U.S. Department of State.
The delegation also took part in the spring meetings organized by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, where they held discussions with the leadership of these institutions on the challenges facing the global economy.
The visit also included a meeting with members of the Moldovan diaspora in Washington.
