Moldova concludes term at Council of Europe: Chisinau’s foreign minister to deliver final address to PACE

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi is paying a working visit to Strasbourg today, where he is to deliver Moldova’s final address in the plenary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in the context of the conclusion of our country’s mandate at the helm of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The speech is scheduled for 16:30 and will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

According to the official, this is the last address by the Republic of Moldova in the PACE plenary within the mandate that will conclude in May 2026.

“Today I am on a working visit to Strasbourg, in my capacity as Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. In the first part of the day, I will hold meetings with high-level European officials,” stated Mihai Popșoi.

The visit agenda includes meetings with Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, with Petra Bayr, President of PACE, as well as with Mathieu Mori, Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

“At 16:30, I will deliver a speech in the plenary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, followed by a question-and-answer session. The speech marks the last address of the Republic of Moldova in the PACE plenary in the context of holding the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe,” the foreign minister underlined.

The Republic of Moldova assumed the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on 14 November 2025. The mandate will be exercised until 15 May 2026.
