Moldova, Austria strengthen cooperation for European integration

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with President of the Austrian National Council Walter Rosenkranz. The two officials discussed the bilateral relations and the European path of Moldova.

The discussions focused on the process of accession to the European Union and on the support provided by Austria in this endeavor. The Moldovan official expressed gratitude for Austria’s constant support, emphasizing its importance in the context of the current stages of European integration.

The sides also highlighted the level of bilateral cooperation, with mention of joint projects in such areas as education, public health and agriculture. According to Speaker Igor Grosu, these initiatives contribute to the development of relations between the two states and to the improvement of living conditions.

Igor Grosu also stressed that Austria’s experience was being utilized in the process of reforms and alignment with European standards, and that existing partnerships are considered support for Moldova’s advancement on its path to European integration.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu is paying an official visit to Austria on April 19–21 this year, at an invitation of his counterpart, President of the National Council of Austria Walter Rosenkranz.

During the visit, the speaker will have meetings with the leadership of the Austrian legislature – the presidents of the two chambers, Walter Rosenkranz and Markus Stotter – as well as with members of the Austria–Moldova parliamentary friendship group. The agenda will include strengthening the Moldovan–Austrian relations, deepening parliamentary dialogue and Austria’s support for the European path of Moldova.

The diplomatic relations between the two states were established on March 25, 1992.
