USA to implement new visa restriction policy: authorities ban entry of individuals involved in cybercrime, online scams, sextortion
The U.S. Department of State has announced a new visa restriction policy that bans the entry of individuals responsible for or complicit in cybercrimes, online scams, and sextortion. First-degree relatives of these individuals may also be subject to visa restrictions.
The new provisions are applied on the basis of an Executive Order issued by President Donald Trump.
“It targets criminal networks that have defrauded Americans of at least 10 billion dollars in 2024 alone through fraudulent and predatory investment schemes,” the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau announced.
U.S. authorities advise citizens to be cautious about unsolicited investment offers. People are also urged never to send money or personal images to unverified online contacts.
