Moldovan parliament speaker urges Moldova's citizens to participate in Romania's presidential elections

The presidential elections in Romania are more than just a simple electoral competition. They are about the direction Romania will take and the strong voice Romania will have in the European Union to support Moldova. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today conveyed a message to this effect. He urged the Moldovan citizens to participate in Romania's presidential elections.

The speaker said that, on May 2-4, Romanians around the world were called to the polls to elect their president.

"We, the ones from Moldova, have an important voice in building the common European future for citizens on both banks of the Prut. I urge you to go to the polls, from next Friday to Sunday, at the 64 polling stations open in Moldova. It is important that you to have a valid Romanian identity document, such as an identity card (electronic/provisional), ID card, or passport," Igor Grosu noted.

In December 2024, almost 81,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted for Romania’s president.

"There was an extraordinary turnout and a record participation. Let’s join our forces once again and show that we are not just passport holders, but also responsible for Romania's future. The presidential elections in Romania are more than just a mere electoral competition: they are about the direction Romania will take and the strong voice Romania will have in the European Union, to support  Moldova," said Igor Grosu.

The speaker urged citizens from Moldova to be active and participate in large numbers in Romania's presidential elections.

"Dear Bessarabians, let’s show the world the strength of the citizens of Moldova. We should not allow foreign, extremist forces, who do not love Moldova, to divert Romania from the right path. At the presidential elections in Romania, we vote for Crin Antonescu, the candidate put forward by the pro-European government in Bucharest and the National Liberal Party, alongside whom we are together in the great European political family - the European People's Party. Together, forward! Romania, forward!" added Igor Grosu.

Sixty four polling stations will be opened in Moldova for the presidential elections due in Romania. Thus, in the North of the country, 18 stations will be organized, in the Center - 38 stations, of which 20 in the municipality of Chisinau, and in the South - 8 polling stations.

Romanian citizens from Moldova are expected to vote on 2, 3 and 4 May during 07:00-21:00.
