Moldovans with at least 40 years of contributions to receive minimum pension of 3,300 lei as of 1 May
People with at least 40 years of contributions will benefit from an increased minimum pension of 3,300 lei starting from 1 May this year.
The measure targets individuals who have had long careers in such fields as education, agriculture, social assistance and other economic sectors, but who receive low pensions due to reduced lifetime earnings.
According to authorities, the new regulation contributes to strengthening social equity and ensuring a decent living for elderly individuals. It also shows the government's commitment to support citizens who have actively contributed to the development of the society throughout their professional lives.
Pensioners of this category will be identified in the Social Protection Information System, managed by the National Social Insurance House (CNAS). Accordingly, their pensions will be increased automatically, without the need for individuals to request it at local social insurance offices.
Data provided by CNAS shows that there are 30,611 individuals with at least 40 years of contributions receiving a pension up to 3,300 lei in Moldova.
Increases in pension fund allocations have exceeded 13.9 billion lei in Moldova in the last three years. As of April 1, pensions were indexed by 10 per cent, increasing the minimum pension from 1,888 lei to 3,055 lei, while the average pension doubled, reaching 4,407 lei.
Also, in the cold season, the most vulnerable pensioners received between 800 and 1,400 lei per month.
