Moldovan parliament to approve date of parliamentary elections on 17 April

The standing bureau of the parliament today approved the agenda for the meeting due on April 17. The MPs are set to pass a resolution to establish the date of the parliamentary elections - September 28, 2025. Also, the lawmakers will consider  amendments to the State Budget Law and to the Social Insurance Budget Law for this year.

The agenda of the plenary meeting also includes three draft laws to adjust the national legislation with EU’s one. The MPs will discuss, in the first reading, the draft law on the mutual recognition of goods legally traded in EU member states. The goal of the draft law is to contribute to ensuring the free movement of goods between the EU and Moldova. The lawmakers will examine, in the second reading, drafts on representative actions for the protection of collective interests of consumers, as well as the regulation of roaming charges with EU member states.

The parliament will also consider, in the first reading, an initiative that provides for exempting victims of domestic violence from paying the state fee and stamp duty in asset partition cases and other property disputes, as well as the draft law for Moldova’s accession to the Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad in Civil or Commercial Matters, adopted in The Hague.

The MPs will also discuss proposals to amend the Family Code, the initiative stipulating that Moldova will participate in the increase of capital of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as the simple motion on the policies of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.

The parliament will hold the plenary on April 17, starting from 10:00.
