PHOTO // Fire Shield 2026 exercise concludes

Fire Shield 2026 exercise has concluded after two weeks of joint training and practical exercises conducted by military personnel from the Republic of Moldova, Romania and the United States, as well as by carabineers.

The closing event was attended by State Secretary for Defense Resources Policy Sergiu Plop, the leadership of the Defense Staff, representatives of the Joint Staff of the North Carolina National Guard, members of the General Inspectorate of Carabiniers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, accredited military attachés and other guests.

The exercise program included briefing sessions, practical field training and live-fire exercises using the weapon systems assigned to the participating contingents.

Plop praised the organization and conduct of the activities and highlighted the importance of joint training for strengthening interoperability, developing military capabilities and preparing personnel in accordance with international standards.

Fire Shield 2026 took place from September 4 to 19 and brought together military personnel from units of the National Army, the Romanian Army and the North Carolina National Guard, as well as personnel from the General Inspectorate of Carabiniers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It has been organized annually since 2015. This year’s edition is the 11th and is being held in accordance with the National Army’s Training Plan for 2026.

The Ministry of Defense informs that, in the coming period, the military equipment involved in the exercise will return on national roads from the training centers to its permanent deployment locations in the northern, central and southern parts of the country. Drivers are urged to take into account the presence of military equipment convoys on national routes and to follow the instructions of the authorities.
