PM, at Etno Fest Taraclia, says diversity of cultures, traditions makes Moldova richer
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan has attended the 25th edition of the Etno Fest Taraclia Festival, an event dedicated to the traditions, culture and diversity of the ethnic communities of Moldova.
The PM referred to the importance of unity and mutual respect at a time when the war near the country and propaganda are attempting to deepen divisions between people and communities.
“We are living through a complicated period. That is precisely why it is important to remember one simple thing: Moldova is strong when we know how to live together. In different languages. With different traditions and different family histories, but in peace, with respect for one another, and with the feeling that this is our common country,” Prime Minister Vasile Tofan said.
The prime minister noted that the history of Taraclia District showed how the Moldova had been created - generation after generation, culture after culture. Basile Tofan appreciated the contribution of the Bulgarian community to the country's development and its role as a bridge between Moldova and Bulgaria. At the same time, the PM emphasized the importance of preserving the language and cultural identity of each community.
“I want Bulgarians of Moldova to speak Bulgarian, Gagauz people to preserve the Gagauz language, and Ukrainians to preserve the Ukrainian language—so that each community can pass on to its children the language of their parents and grandparents. Knowing one more language and one more culture does not make us less Moldovan; it makes Moldova richer,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Prime Minister Tofan visited a fair of artisans and local producers, spoke with participants and learned about the products and traditions presented at the festival.
Etno Fest Taraclia has been organized for more than two decades and promotes traditions, crafts, gastronomy and intercultural dialogue. This year's edition is a jubilee event and was included for the first time in the 2026 Tree of Life Cultural and Tourist Agenda.
