
Moldovan PM says Moldova, Ukraine have excellent relations
Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip said at a joint press conference today with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Groisman, that Moldova and Ukraine are in excellent relations. "In fact, these relations are natural for two countries, for two neighbouring countries, for two countries that respect each other and face a number of problems," said the Prime Minister.
Pavel Filip said that at the beginning of this year, when he paid a visit to Kiev, he signed with the Ukrainian Prime Minister a Roadmap through which they assumed a number of objectives to be achieved. "I am pleased that today, after an analysis of what has been accomplished, we have signed a new roadmap with concrete objectives," said the PM.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers said that in this new roadmap, it was also an objective that making it very clear that while some countries are building borders, Moldova and Ukraine are building bridges and trying to communicate better.
"Today, it was signed a very important agreement for Moldova, which envisages the launch of common border crossing border points between the Ukraine and Moldova. Also today, with the Prime Minister, we talked about the mutual recognition of priorities, finalization of the border demarcation procedure and the functioning of the Dnestrovsk Hydropower Complex so that all these problems – at the end of the year, to be solved," said Pavel Filip.
During the meeting of the two Prime Ministers, it was also addressed the issue of liberalization of international transport. An agreement to this effect is due to be signed in the near future. It was also agreed that a Joint Commission would be set up, in which case the expertise of the European Commission to be needed. "We have assurances that the right of national minorities in Ukraine will be respected and that they will have access to study in their mother tongue, in Romanian," said Filip. Also, he pointed out that "we understand very well how important it is to strengthen the learning of the state language, as a hybrid war is going on in the region."
The Prime Minister also added that he thanked his counterpart for the efforts Ukraine has been making "to find a solution for the Transnistrian conflict".
