Moldovan Parliament illuminated in national flag's colors on Independence Day

The building of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova was illuminated this evening in the colors of the national flag, on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the country's declaration of independence.

According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, the symbolic gesture is a tribute to those who fought for the freedom and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova, as well as a sign of national unity.

“Our fight for independence united us 34 years ago and continues to unite us, in difficult times and good times. I strongly believe that only united, together, with love for our country, we will succeed in building a truly independent, prosperous, European Moldova. We have everything for this: hardworking and patriotic people, eager to build a free and lively country. Here we were born, here we want to work, here we want to live!” Speaker Igor Grosu said.

The Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova was adopted on August 27, 1991, and signed by 278 deputies of the first Legislature.
