European MP says visit by European leaders to Chisinau confirms European path of Moldova

MEP Siegfried Muresan has delivered a congratulatory message for the Republic of Moldova. The message reads that the today's visit by European leaders to Chisinau represents a strong signal of support for the European path and a confirmation of the progress made in recent months in the relationship with the European Union.

"Three of the most important European leaders - France's President Emmanuel Macron, Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk - are expected today in Chisinau, to show their support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova. This is a strong message of unity that Europe is sending in the context of boosted Russian aggression against the Republic of Moldova," Muresan opined.

The MEP also recalled the major achievements of this summer: the first EU-Republic of Moldova Summit, attended by Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa, the launch of the 1.9 billion-euro-worth Growth Plan with pre-financing of 270 million euros, the increase in export quotas for Moldovan fruits and the country's accession to the Creative Europe European programme.

"All these achievements are due both to the support of European leaders and to the efforts of the Moldovan government, led by President Maia Sandu, who have used the summer months to speed up the country's European path. Russia cannot manipulate and blackmail the Republic of Moldova as much as the European Union can help it," Muresan emphasized.

The Republic of Moldova celebrates the Independence Day today.
