Spokesman for Moldovan government says visit by European political power triangle reaffirms that Moldova matters in EU

On Independence Day, Chisinau hosts the visit by the European political “power triangle,” with the presence of President Macron, Chancellor Merz and Prime Minister Tusk. This speaks to the recognition of the Republic of Moldova's efforts to assert itself internationally. The spokesperson for the government, Daniel Voda, has made statements to this effect.

At the same time, at a TV show on Jurnal TV, Daniel Voda emphasized that officials from G7 countries – Canada, the United States, Japan – today had sent messages of support for the people and political leadership of the Republic of Moldova.

“We also have messages from G20 countries, such as China, and from the Middle East or Latin America. All of these show us the respect and solid partnerships that the authorities have built, partnerships that bring real benefits for the citizens,” said Daniel Voda.

The government's spokesperson highlighted that Independence Day is the celebration that unites the Moldovans.

“Each time we see our sportspeople, when we follow the achievements of our students, or the results of our entrepreneurs succeeding, we experience the same feeling of national pride. It would be good to project this confidence in all our actions,” noted Daniel Voda.

The Republic of Moldova is celebrating the 34th anniversary of its Independence today through a historic event, hosting in Chisinau President of France Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk – three European leaders who have come to express their firm support for the country's European future.

The agenda of the three leaders' visit concluded this evening. Alongside President Maia Sandu, President Macron, Chancellor Merz and Prime Minister Tusk addressed citizens from the main stage of the country, on the Great National Assembly Square.
