Moldovan PM: ''Independence unites us through responsibility and respect for those who fought for freedom''

Prime Minister Dorin Recean has delivered a message on the occasion of Independence Day, highlighting the importance of unity and responsibility in building a free and prosperous country.

‘’Independence unites us through the desire to live in a free country, through care for our fellow citizens, through the responsibility to build together a future of peace and prosperity and when we raise our children with love for our nation,’’ said Recean.

The PM reminded that independence also meant respect for those who had sacrificed everything for the country's freedom.

‘’Today, just like 34 years ago, we must continue the fight for a sovereign, secure, and prosperous Moldova—a state in which we all live in peace. Let us be united, preserve independence, dear people of Moldova! Happy Independence Day, Republic of Moldova!' the prime minister stressed.

Today, the Republic of Moldova marks the 34th anniversary of the declaration of Independence, voted by the parliament on August 27, 1991. On this occasion, more festive events are organized in Chisinau and other settlements of the country. In the afternoon, three European leaders will arrive in Chisinau: President of France Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk.

In the evening, after 8:00 PM, President Maia Sandu, along with high-ranking guests will take the stage on the Great National Assembly Square to address the citizens. The events dedicated to the Independence Day will culminate with a concert organized in the center of the capital.
