Deputy PM, on visit to Osaka, says Moldova, Japan have huge potential for collaboration

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor, on a visit to Japan, has visited the World Expo in Osaka. The official noted that Moldova and Japan had huge potential for collaboration in such fields as IT and digitalization, green energy, agri-food, automotive and health.

Doina Nistor started her visit with a meeting at a municipal organization in Osaka that supports the internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), attracts investments and manages one of the largest exhibition centers in western Japan. ‘’Their experience in connecting local companies to global networks inspires us in how we can promote SMEs and startups from Moldova,’’ said Doina Nistor.

The official also discussed with representatives of the Japanese government agency for trade and investment the potential to attract new investment projects in Moldova, as well as possibilities to integrate Moldovan companies into international value chains.

‘’Japan has vast experience in supporting startups and promoting innovation, a collaboration model that Moldova needs in its economic modernization process,’’ noted Doina Nistor.

At the World Expo in Osaka, the deputy prime minister visited the pavilions of Japan, Romania, the European Union, Ukraine, and, certainly, Moldova.

‘’Our national pavilion is a unique opportunity to showcase our values and economy to the world. Moldova and Japan have huge potential for collaboration in such areas as IT and digitalization, green energy, agri-food, automotive and health. Osaka's experience in the infrastructure of innovation parks and international cooperation can inspire Moldova's next steps, including in the construction of the Moldova HiTech Park and Agrotek Park,’’ Doina Nistor said.

The World Expo in Osaka is organized during April 13-October 13. Moldova's pavilion is modern, interactive and colorful. Visitors can taste local wines and traditional dishes, all gathered in the Casa Mare space, try on traditional costumes, listen to folk music, explore tourist locations through a teleport-like experience, and learn about investment opportunities.

Moldova's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka aims to strengthen its international presence by leveraging business development opportunities, expanding collaboration networks and promoting national culture.

On Sunday, August 31, Moldova will be celebrated at the National Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025, a moment of pride for the country.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean, who will pay a visit to Japan at the end of this week, will also participate in the inauguration of Moldova Day at the World Expo in Osaka.

The Osaka World Expo 2025 will be attended by over 160 countries, with approximately 28 million visitors expected during six months.
