PHOTO // Republic of Moldova opened Honorary Consulate in Almaty, Kazakhstan

The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan was inaugurated today a venue dedicated to promoting economic and cultural ties between the two states. The consulate will be headed by Iskandir Karsybekov, a Kazakh businessman involved in joint projects with Moldova.

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Kazakhstan, the mission of the Honorary Consulate will be to promote Moldovan exports, attract foreign investment, and develop sustainable partnerships between the business communities of both countries.

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Kazakhstan, Ștefan Gorda, the Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan in Almaty, Zhanibek Abdirash, and members of the regional consular corps. Officials emphasized that the opening of the consulate in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s main economic and logistical hub, will facilitate dialogue between business circles and expand opportunities for economic cooperation.

The event included cultural moments representative of Moldova: Maria Krez, an active member of the Moldovan community, performed the national anthems of both states and a recital of traditional songs. Guests had the opportunity to taste Moldovan wines, which they praised for their quality.

The Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on September 16, 1992. The volume of bilateral trade for 2025 amounted to 30.94 million US dollars (exports totaled 13.13 million dollars and imports 17.81 million dollars).

The bilateral legal framework includes 27 documents that regulate Moldovan-Kazakh cooperation in various fields.
