VIDEO // Energy minister says solidarity of European partners helps country overcome energy crises
Moldova has managed to avoid electricity disconnections after identifying mechanisms for allocating the capacities needed to cover consumption, Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu has said.
According to the official, the solutions were agreed upon during an extraordinary meeting held today morning, in videoconference format, with the participation of national authorities and transmission system operators from the region.
“Thanks to the solidarity and cooperation between citizens, local public authorities, the private sector and thanks to the support and commitment of Energocom, Moldelectrica, the Energy Ministry and the transmission system operators in the region, Moldova has managed to identify mechanisms to avoid disconnections,” the minister said.
He specified that, following discussions with operators from Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary, technical solutions had been identified for the allocation of cross-border capacities needed to secure electricity supply.
The energy minister emphasized the role of European partners in managing the situation, noting that their support was essential for maintaining the stability of the power system.
“We are once again seeing that the solidarity of European partners helps us overcome the energy crises we are going through, and this example strengthens our confidence that together we will succeed,” said Dorin Junghietu.
At the same time, the official issued an appeal to consumers to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours, in order to maintain the balance of the national energy system.
“I encourage you to continue this important effort and to reduce consumption as much as possible during peak hours, in order to maintain the stability of the power system until the Isaccea–Vulcanesti line is put back into operation,” the minister said.
The authorities continue to monitor the situation and to cooperate with regional partners, in order to ensure the energy security of Moldova.
