Moldovan PM has meeting with Romania’s economy minister
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today had a meeting with Romania’s Minister of Economy, Irineu Darau, on a day of special significance, 27 March – the Day of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania. The discussion focused on Moldovan-Romanian economic cooperation and the excellent relations between the two states.
During the talks, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu expressed gratitude for the prompt support provided by Romania in managing the pollution crisis on the Dniester River, caused by attacks of the Russian Federation. Romanian teams intervened from the very first day, helping to install absorbent barriers and supplying the necessary materials to limit the effects of the pollution.
The officials discussed expanding economic collaboration and launching joint projects, particularly in the IT sector. Priorities include the development of a digital wallet, data interoperability, the continued digitalization of public services, as well as the exchange of experience in creating an attractive environment for IT specialists and companies.
Another area of common interest is tourism, with emphasis placed on the potential for developing joint tourist routes that would capitalize on the offerings of both countries. During the discussions, the sides highlighted the potential of Moldova and Romania to act as a common market for investors, capable of attracting large-scale projects in the region.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Minister Irineu Darau also discussed the progress of Moldova’s European path, with Romania reaffirming its full support for this strategic goal.
