Farmers from 14 districts to receive irrigation grants

A total of 26 farmers from the Republic of Moldova will receive grants for the purchase of irrigation equipment, under programs implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, through UCIP IFAD Moldova, with the support of the International Fund for Agricultural Development.

According to the authorities, each beneficiary will receive funding of up to 7,500 US dollars, which will be used to purchase modern irrigation machinery. The program aims to increase agricultural yields and reduce the impact of drought on crops.

The beneficiaries come from several districts of the country, including Ialoveni, Cimișlia, Cantemir, Leova, Orhei, Cahul, Dondușeni, Florești, Hîncești, Rezina, Șoldănești, Ungheni, Căușeni and Călărași.

The farmers who will receive financial support are engaged in various agricultural activities, including vineyard cultivation, open-field vegetable growing, as well as maintaining orchards of cherry, plum, apricot, walnut, peach, sea buckthorn and hazelnut.

The selected equipment includes modern drip and micro-sprinkler irrigation systems, technologies that ensure efficient use of water resources and contribute to the development of more resilient agriculture.

Program representatives note that farmers interested in accessing the grants can benefit from free assistance in preparing application files and business plans, including through the consultancy services offered within the program.

IFAD programs in the Republic of Moldova are implemented by the Government through UCIP IFAD and aim to support the development of the agricultural sector and increase the competitiveness of farmers under climate change conditions.
