Recean Government concludes mandate
President Maia Sandu conveyed a message of gratitude to the government team that concluded its mandate on 1 November. The head of state emphasized that Recean Cabinet implemented important programs for the country's development and localities and made history by passing the referendum on Moldova's European integration.
“It was a government that maintained peace, defended democracy and the safety of citizens, implemented important programs for the country's and localities' development, and made history by passing the referendum on Moldova's European integration. I know the efforts and sacrifices behind these achievements. I thank all the colleagues in the outgoing cabinet,” said Maia Sandu.
The President expressed gratitude to Dorin Recean for his courage to lead the government during a complicated period, noting that he demonstrated being a “very good manager in crisis situations.” The head of state also thanked ministers Ala Nemerenco, Sergiu Prodan, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, Sergiu Lazarencu, Victoria Belous, Doina Nistor and Roman Roșca, wishing them success in future projects.
Recean Government's mandate began on February 16, 2023, and concluded with the swearing-in of the new cabinet on November 1, 2025.
In an exclusive interview with MOLDPRES, Dorin Recean mentioned that the government he led acted from the very beginning with a clear principle: care for the country, for people, and for localities, during an extremely complicated period.
“We were faced with numerous overlapping crises, and our absolute priority was maintaining peace and calm in the country. We achieved this and, at the same time, accelerated the European course, as EU accession is the most secure long-term security guarantee. When prices rose worldwide, we did not look for culprits but found solutions: we increased pensions and salaries, provided consistent utility bill compensation for hundreds of thousands of families, and launched the largest local development program – European Village. We invested massively in roads, water and sewage networks, and the modernization of schools and kindergartens. An essential result is energy independence: after 30 years of vulnerability, we managed to diversify supply sources, purchase gas on the international market, and connect to the European electricity grid, so that no one can blackmail Moldova again,” stated Recean.
Among the achievements listed by the former prime minister for MOLDPRES are maintaining peace, almost tripling the minimum pension, repairing over 760 kilometers of roads, and cleansing the justice system.
“We succeeded through concrete actions and an active foreign policy. We brought the country out of isolation and demonstrated that we are a reliable partner. We maintained peace and stability in a difficult context, which was highly appreciated by European partners. We launched courageous reforms, especially in justice and anti-corruption. The moment that confirmed the respect we enjoy was hosting the European Political Community Summit in 2023 in Chișinău, with the participation of dozens of European leaders. The results are visible: we achieved candidate country status, opened accession negotiations, and benefit from unprecedented financial support for the country's modernization,” Recean concluded.
