University of Medicine equipped departments with 41 modern portable ultrasound machines

Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy has purchased a batch of 41 cutting-edge portable ultrasound machines, which will be distributed to various university departments and clinics. The equipment will be used in the training of students and resident doctors, contributing to the improvement of practical training quality.

Two of the new devices have already been tested at the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology No. 1 'Valeriu Ghereg,' located within the Emergency Medicine Institute, led by university professor Serghei Șandru.

'The portable ultrasound machines provide excellent image accuracy, particularly for quick cardiac and vascular examinations. These systems support early diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and swift clinical decisions, reducing patient waiting time and avoiding invasive or costly investigations,' Serghei Șandru said.

The new medical equipment will be distributed in the coming days to university departments, including those of intensive care, internal medicine, cardiology and surgery, being integrated into the teaching and research process.

According to the university's administration, the investment will significantly enhance the quality of medical education and ensure students' access to modern diagnostic technologies used in international medical practice.

The total value of the equipment batch is about 4,904,000 lei.
