VIDEO // New Moldova's Ambassador to Ireland says goal to consolidate relations with Dublin, support Diaspora

The strengthening of the relations between Moldova and Ireland, as well as supporting the Moldovan communities from this country are among the priorities of new Ambassador of Moldova to Dublin Jana Costachi, approved by the government today. In an interview made public on social media, the diplomat provides more information from her agenda as an ambassador.

Jana Costachi emphasized that she would advocate for the strengthening of relations with Ireland, with a special focus on the European integration of Moldova.

“As Ambassador of Moldova to Ireland, my agenda will include several priorities. I want to make sure that our Irish partners are friends and that they will continue to support our European path on all possible platforms. Our European agenda will achieve results, including with the support of Irish partners. The excellent political and foreign relations with Ireland are already bringing immediate benefits to our citizens, both at home and abroad. I will leverage these relations, in order to work in the interest of our citizens and Moldova.”

The diplomat assured that she would provide support to the Diaspora, would be an active and vocal ambassador, involved in the life of Moldovan communities abroad.

“One of the target groups for my agenda is the Diaspora and the support I will provide will consist of being a present, vocal, impartial and active ambassador, involved in the life of Diaspora communities.”

Jana Costachi is a team player and is proud of her national identity, which as he put it, she will represent with dignity in Ireland.

“I am a person who works for results. In this case, I pragmatically and impartially use all tools and human resources, including financial ones, at my disposal. I am a team player; no one can achieve anything alone and I am also proud of my affiliation and national identity. That is why, I have promoted everywhere the exceptional models we have created here in Moldova, as examples to be followed by my colleagues in other countries and regions.”


Jana Costachi has held the position of state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2021. She has over 15 years of experience and expertise at the international level in such important areas as ensuring the observance of fundamental human rights and freedoms, promoting equal opportunities for social dialogue, occupational policies, social policies, migration’s regulation, managing international migration flows and public security.
