
Chisinau Municipal Council holds first meeting
Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - Four factions have been set up at the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), which held its first meeting in the new composition today.
Thus, the faction of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) will have 22 councilors and will be led by Serghei Afanasenco. The Dignity and Truth Platform Party (PPDA) will have ten councilors in CMC, led by PPDA leader Andrei Nastase. Another nine councilors will be members of the Action and Solidarity Party’s (PAS) faction, whose leader was nominated Vasile Gradinaru. Three councilors will make up the Liberal Party’s (PL) faction, led by Ion Cebanu.
Two councilors on behalf of the Democratic Party (PDM) and Shor Party each will also be CMC members. The National Unity Party, New Force Movement and the Party of Communists will have one councilor each.
In the beginning of the meeting, the general mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, urged the new councilors to focus their work, in the next four years, on the settlement of the problems of the Chisinau municipality. “We have a lot of thing to do together; we have commitments to the Chisinau residents. I invite you, on this four-year period, to focus on the problems of the city’s residents, to do our utmost for the city and its suburbs to change for the better. People expect changes and we have no time to lose; there are thousands of problems which we must solve together,” Ceban said.
CMC is made up of 51 councilors.
