Customs Service dismantled scheme for smuggling and trading of goods worth over 4 million lei
Chisinau, July 18. /MOLDPRES/- Customs Service found goods without documents of legal provenance at an economic agent, which are supposed to have been illegally introduced into the country, bypassing the internal customs checkpoints, through the Transnistrian segment of the border. The consignment is estimated at over 3.4 million lei (170 thousand euros).
The goods were found following checks carried out at an economic agent that owns a network of stores in Chisinau and Balti.
According to the Customs Service, the economic agent was identified as a result of detention registered by the institution's mobile team officers. The case took place this February, when customs officers identified and later stopped a means of transport that was moving from the Transnistrian region to Chisinau, using the roads bypassing the internal customs posts. As a result, new and used clothing items were found, transported in 58 bags, without customs or tax documents, worth about one million lei.
In this case, analyzing the value of the damage found, a notification was submitted to the Criminal Investigation Department within the above-mentioned service, for examination of the case according to the competence.
