Customs Service warns citizens about fake document circulating online

Customs Service has alerted citizens about a fake document circulating in the public space, presented as a so-called "Letter of Guarantee/Agreement." The institution clarified that the document contains fake information about alleged payments needed for the release of luggage.

The Customs Service emphasized that it does not issue or transmit such documents and does not request any payments for the release of luggage.

"All data and information in this document are without legal basis, distorting reality and aiming to mislead citizens. Do not be fooled and do not fall into the fraudsters' trap! The Customs Service communicates only through official channels and complies with legal procedures in its activities," noted the Customs Service.

In this context, the institution urged citizens to exercise maximum caution against such fraud attempts, not to pay any amounts requested through such documents, to inform authorities if they suspect a fraud attempt, and to immediately verify any dubious information or requests by calling the Call Center of the Customs Service – 022 788 888.
