DOC // Decision published in Official Journal: Funds and economic resources of Bashkan blocked by State Tax Service
The funds and economic resources of Gagauzia's Bashkan Evghenia Guțul have been blocked by the State Tax Service. A decision to this effect was published today in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.
The decision concerns the implementation of Canada's international restrictive measures against "Russia's malign interference in the Republic of Moldova ahead of the parliamentary elections."
At the end of August 2025, Canada imposed sanctions on 16 Moldovan citizens and two entities allegedly involved in "malicious interference activities" of the Russian Federation. Among the sanctioned individuals are the president of the Heart of Moldova party, Irina Vlah, and governor of Gagauzia Evghenia Guțul.
On 5 August, governor of Gagauzia Evghenia Guțul was sentenced by the Chisinau Court, Buiucani branch, to seven years in prison regarding the case of illegal funding of the former Shor party. The court found her guilty of knowingly accepting illegal funding from an organized criminal group, in the interest of a political party and an electoral competitor.
