Driving licenses issued in Moldova to be recognized in Ireland

The driving licenses issued by Moldova’s authorities will be recognized in Ireland. The draft decision providing for the approval of signing the Agreement to this effect was included on the agenda of a cabinet meeting, due on April 1.

As a result of signing the Agreement, Moldovan citizens residing in Ireland will be able to exchange their driving licenses without taking theoretical or practical tests. Likewise, holders of driving licenses issued by the Irish authorities will benefit from the same conditions.

According to the authorities, this will facilitate road traffic between the two countries and strengthen the Moldovan-Irish relations in the fields of transport, road safety and internal affairs.

Moldova has already signed mutual recognition treaties for driving licenses with more states, including Turkey, Lithuania, Italy, Albania, Spain and Greece, as well as a joint declaration of intent with Germany on the transcription of driving licenses.
