European Council President visits centre for refugees at Moldexpo centre from Moldovan capital
Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/ - European Council President Charles Michel today paid a visit to the centre of temporary placement for refugees, placed at the Moldexpo exhibition centre from Chisinau, in the context of his visit to Moldova.
The secretary general of the Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Tudor Mancas, presented to the EU official the measures undertaken by the institution to manage the crisis of refugees from Ukraine.
„We discussed the creation of proper conditions for hosting people who took refuges on territory of Moldova, supply with food and essential goods, management of the humanitarian assistance, as well as providing other important services, such as measures of employment and social inclusion,’’ the Labour and Social Protection Ministry said.
After the visiting of the two pavilions who host refugees, the officials went to the point of refugees’ registration within the programme on financial support, backed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, located on the area of Moldexpo.
Charles Michel emphasized the hospitability and solidarity showed for the refugees from Ukraine and reiterated the European Union’s support for Moldova.
European Council President Charles Michel paid a visit to Moldova. In Chisinau, the European official had meetings with President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita.
