Five localities in Drochia merge into single town hall: voluntary amalgamation supported by over 28 million lei in Government incentives
Five localities in the Drochia district have decided to merge into a single town hall in order to strengthen their development and provide more efficient services to citizens. They will benefit from investments of 28.1 million lei, offered by the Government in the form of incentives.
The localities concerned are Nicoreni, Țarigrad, Antoneuca, Pervomaiscoe and Fîntînița.
“Five localities in Drochia district are working together for a better future, supported by 28.1 million lei in investments from the Government,” announced Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu.
According to information presented by the authorities, 85 percent of town halls in the Republic of Moldova have initiated the voluntary amalgamation process, which means 761 town halls out of a total of 890 existing town halls, or 90 percent of the town halls that have a population of less than 3,000 inhabitants. For the town halls involved in the process, development projects will be drafted concerning the incentives offered by the Government, while for the town halls that have not opted for this path, normative amalgamation will follow.
The Government is making available to town halls that have chosen voluntary amalgamation an incentive package worth over 6.5 billion lei. The resources are intended for infrastructure development, improvement of public services and strengthening the administrative capacity of the newly formed units.
The local public administration reform was launched by the Government at the beginning of 2026 and aims to strengthen the administrative capacity of town halls and improve public services. Localities that choose voluntary amalgamation benefit from increased financial incentives, which will be invested in the development of the localities and the strengthening of services for citizens.
