Former president of Moldovan Democratic Party placed under preventive detention for 40 days in Greece

Greek prosecutors have issued a 40-day arrest warrant for Vladimir Plahotniuc (former president of the Moldovan Democratic Party). The decision is subject to appeal, according to the Prosecutor General's Office (PG).

The cited source said that the 40-day term was given in accordance with the European Convention on Extradition for the submission of the extradition request.

One of the most wanted former politicians from Moldova, Vladimir Plahotniuc, was detained on by Greek authorities at the Athens International Airport on July 21, shortly before boarding a flight to Dubai. Alongside him, former Moldovan MP Constantin Tutu was also arrested, both being located by officers of the Subdivision of Property Crimes and Crimes Against Life.
