
Industrial production increased by 11.7% in May
Industrial production increased by 11.7% in May 2025, compared to the same period last year, maintaining the positive trend from April. The figures were presented by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization referring to data from the National Statistics Bureau.
The growth was mainly supported by the manufacturing industry (+12.4%), energy production and supply (+7.2%), and the extractive industry (+4.4%).
Among the most dynamic branches in the manufacturing industry are the repair of fabricated metal products (+81.7%), manufacturing of measuring and control equipment (+64.3%), manufacturing of clothing items (+59.3%), production of chemicals and chemical products (+36.4%), manufacturing of electrical equipment (+31.0%).
In January–May 2025, industrial production increased by 1.3% compared to the same period in 2024. The most significant contributions to this result came from the manufacturing of measuring and control equipment (+54.2%), the metal construction industry (+25.7%), the extractive industry (+15.3%), and the energy sector (+5%).
MDED estimates show that the projects will generate at least 489 jobs and will directly contribute to regional development and the strengthening of production capacities in the Republic of Moldova.
