Moldova strengthens international cooperation in agriculture sector, enhances visibility globally

Moldova has made significant progress in international cooperation and the promotion of agriculture on a global level. According to a report presented by  acting Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga today, more memorandums and bilateral agreements have been recently signed with such partner countries as Poland, the Czech Republic, India, Israel, Hungary, Italy and China.

The documents pertain to the exchange of experience, the promotion of innovative agricultural technologies, the strengthening of institutional capacities and the stimulation of investments in the agricultural sector. The aim of these partnerships is to increase the competitiveness of Moldovan agriculture on the international market and to accelerate alignment with European standards.

A special section of the report was dedicated to Moldova’s international visibility in the winemaking field. The country hosted, for the first time, two of the most important global events dedicated to wine: the World Congress of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. Moldovan winemakers received recognition from international experts, demonstrating the quality and diversity of local wines.

At the same time, under the presidency of Moldova, the 34th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Regional Conference for Europe took place in 2024, for the first time, a large-scale event that brought together representatives of European states and development partners, in order to discuss innovative solutions in agriculture and food security.

“These international events and agreements not only enhance the recognition of  Moldova globally, but also open new opportunities for our farmers and producers. Moldovan agriculture is becoming more visible, competitive and connected to international trends,” highlighted Ludmila Catlabuga.

By strengthening cooperation with external partners, Moldova is asserting its active role in promoting a modern, sustainable and innovative agriculture, based on best practices and solid partnerships on a regional and global level, the minister added.
