VIDEO // Moldova on agenda of European Council; Romanian president says EU accession process to be discussed

The developments in Moldova's process of accession to the European Union is one of the subjects included on the agenda of the European Council meeting, held in Brussels today.

Before attending the meeting, President of Romania Nicusor Dan made statements to the press, noting that the discussions concerning Moldova would focus on the formal accession process, the negotiation chapters and the technical aspects that need to be fulfilled.

"A topic analyzed, very important for Romania, is Moldova and the process of Moldova's accession to the EU, pairing with Ukraine, how we can use these years for Moldova's accession to the EU," said Nicusor Dan.

"Starting the formal accession process, the chapters, that's the discussion, that's the ambition, but how this can be done technically, we will see today," specified Nicusor Dan.

The agenda of the European Council includes as main discussion topics: Ukraine, the Middle East, European security and defense, the competitiveness of the Union and the dual transition, access to housing, migration, and Moldova, announced the Bucharest Presidential Administration in a press release.

At the same time, on the sidelines of the European Council, there will also be an extended format Euro Summit, where the economic situation at the EU level will be discussed, with emphasis on the Economic and Monetary Union and digital euro.

The European Council brings together EU leaders and represents the highest level of political cooperation between the EU countries.
