Four vocational schools and a college in Southern Moldova to receive over €12 million for modernization
More than €12 million will be invested in the modernization of four vocational schools and a college in Ceadîr-Lunga, Leova, Căușeni, and Cahul. The works will include the renovation of classrooms and dormitories, as well as the outfitting of workshops with modern equipment, in order to improve students’ study and living conditions.
The investments are part of a project of the Ministry of Education and Research, implemented with the support of development partners, which provides for the allocation of €80 million to modernize 25 technical vocational education institutions in the Republic of Moldova.
At the national level, the project includes the renovation of 47 buildings, including 24 academic buildings, workshops, and laboratories, as well as 23 dormitories. More than 21,000 students will benefit from these investments, representing approximately 40% of the total number of students enrolled in technical vocational education nationwide.
The institutions were selected based on the relevance of their specialties to priority sectors of the economy, their investment needs, and the potential impact they could have on regional development.
Currently, the Republic of Moldova has 79 technical vocational education institutions: 32 vocational schools, 34 colleges, and 13 centers of excellence. They provide training for approximately 50,000 students, with the educational process supported by around 3,500 teaching staff members.
