Free dental care provided to people with special needs in Moldova

People with special needs, both children and adults, can benefit from free dental services under general anesthesia, Ministry of Health has reported.

The service provides free dental care to children at the Mother and Child Institute, "Emilian Coțaga" clinic, and to adults at the Emergency Medicine Institute. It is equipped with the necessary resources, so that people with special needs can receive high-quality medical care.

Children with special needs can schedule dental treatment at the Republican Clinical Hospital for Children "Emilian Coțaga", from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Contact phone: 0 (22) 72 81 14.

Adults with disabilities can schedule appointments at the Republican Center for Oro-Maxillofacial Surgery placed at the Emergency Medicine Institute, from Monday to Friday, between 09:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Contact phones: 0 (79) 993 566; 0(22) 25 07 61; 0(22) 94 43 17.

The Minister of Health specifies that, to benefit from this type of dental assistance, a prior appointment is necessary, made by the patient's parents or guardians, to present the patient's medical history and symptoms description. Subsequently, specialists will determine the necessary investigations, therapeutic approach, and treatment plan.

The treatment costs are fully covered by the National Health Insurance Company.

It is worth being mentioned that the Dental Care Service under General Anesthesia has been functional since June 2024. To date, 38 adults and 98 children have benefited from dental services.
