Head of Capital's General Directorate for Housing and Utilities detained by Anti-Corruption Center in public procurement case
Seven individuals, including four public officials with managerial status, namely the head of the General Directorate for Housing and Utilities of Chisinau City Hall and three economic agents have been detained by the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA) in a public procurement case.
According to the CNA, the detentions followed searches carried out by CNA officers together with prosecutors. The raids targeted several heads of departments and services within the General Directorate for Housing and Utilities, as well as representatives of certain economic agents.
Based on the evidence gathered, the officials and economic agents allegedly implemented a criminal scheme of unlawful solicitation, acceptance and systematic receipt of commissions from the value of awarded tenders, favoring certain companies in the awarding of public contracts.
Following the raids, objects and documents proving the criminal activity were seized, including financial means in various currencies, totaling over 3 million lei.
All detained individuals will be placed in the CNA detention center for 72 hours. The investigation continues.
