Holy Light from Jerusalem brought to Moldova

The Holy Light, which was lit this afternoon in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, has been brought to Moldova as well. The Holy Fire was brought by two delegations: one from the Metropolitan See of Moldova and another of the Metropolitan See of Bessarabia. It was distributed both to priests, who took it to the churches, and to all the believers who came on April 11 evening to churches to participate in the religious service held on the occasion of the Feast of the Resurrection of the Lord.

On behalf of the Metropolitan See of Moldova, the Holy Light from Jerusalem was brought by the Auxiliary Bishop, His Grace Filaret of Capriana. The Holy Fire arrived on the square of the Birth of God Metropolitan Cathedral from the capital, where His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir distributed the Holy Light to the hierarchs of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, priests and all Christians.

At the same time, the Metropolitan See of Bessarabia received the Holy Light through a delegation of the Archdiocese of Chisinau, which collected it at Iasi International Airport and brought it by land to Moldova. The Holy Light arrived at the Metropolitan Chapel in Chisinau, where it was distributed by His Eminence Metropolitan Petru to the other deaneries and parishes in the country.

The ceremony of bringing the Holy Light from Jerusalem is a profoundly symbolic moment for all Orthodox Christians and takes place every year on Holy Saturday, within a unique ritual held at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The flame is considered a manifestation of divine grace and is awaited with emotion and reverence by millions of believers around the world. It is regarded as the oldest documented annual miracle of the Christian world, consistently recorded since 1106.

This year, the Holy Fire was brought to Moldova for the 24th time.
