DOC // Government decision on army conscription published in Official Journal
Government decision on conscription of citizens for regular and reduced-term military service for the period April–July 2026 has been published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova and has entered into force.
The document stipulates that, during this period, up to 1,200 conscripts will be drafted for regular military service in the National Army, as well as up to 10 conscripts for reduced-term military service.
The conscription process will take place in stages, on the basis of a schedule approved by the Ministry of Defence, in accordance with the legislation in force. Local public authorities, in cooperation with military centres, will be responsible for organising recruitment and setting the quotas for each locality.
At the same time, the institutions involved will ensure the conduct of medical examinations and military medical expertise of the conscripts, with the support of the Ministry of Health.
The decision further provides that servicemen whose term of service has expired will be discharged and transferred to the reserve.
Oversight of the implementation of the document is entrusted to the State Conscription Commission, and the authorities will also carry out information and military-patriotic education activities, including with the involvement of the Ministry of Education and Research.
