Over 200 young people of Moldova launch or expand businesses through European Union-funded project

Over 200 young people from Moldova have managed to launch or expand their businesses in their communities through the project titled, Empowering Young Entrepreneurs in Moldova, funded by the European Union.

The businesses were developed in 23 fields, ranging from agriculture and food production to IT and creative industries. As a result, 232 new jobs were created. The initiatives involved more than 120 localities across the country.

"These businesses contribute to the development of local communities and create opportunities where they are most needed," the European Union’s Delegation to Moldova said.

The project, with a budget of over 2.5 million euros, of which 2 million is the EU’s contribution, provided not only funding, but also support to turn ideas into reality.

The European Union is Moldova’s main trading partner and investor. Presently, about 68 per cent of Moldova’s exports go to the EU, and over 80 per cent of foreign direct investment in the economy also comes from the EU.
